Three children stabbed in Sydney’s Hills District, mother arrested

Three children have been stabbed, and their mother has been arrested after an incident in Sydney’s north-west.
Police were called to a home on Jamieson Avenue in Baulkham Hills about 5.20am on Monday after reports that multiple people had been stabbed.
Officers found three children, a 10-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl with stab wounds. The boy suffered two stab wounds, while the 13-year-old was stabbed three times, and the 16-year-old was stabbed once and suffered several lacerations.
The Hills Police Area Command commander, Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore, said the children’s 46-year-old mother remained under police guard in hospital suffering from what are believed to be self-inflicted wounds.
Moore said the 46-year-old had suffered one stab wound, believed to be to her stomach, as well as several lacerations.
A neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said the children’s father was home at the time of the stabbing.
“The father was standing there, he was quite calm. I saw him run back inside to grab a bag and then came out and jumped in the ambulance with his family. He’s the one I see the most. Otherwise they’re a pretty quiet family,” they said.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the children, one of whom is believed to use a wheelchair, at the scene before taking them to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. The children suffered wounds to their arms and chests.
