After swerving out of control and crashing into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon, a 36-year-old man is now facing impaired and dangerous driving charges, said Windsor police.
Shortly before 1 p.m. on April 8, officers responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in a parking lot located in the 8700 block of McHugh Street.
Police said witnesses described the vehicle swerving over several curbs, and striking a small tree along the way before finally colliding with the utility pole.

When officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, police said he appeared “unsteady on his feet” and exhibited various signs of impairment.
The driver was arrested at the scene and transferred to the Windsor Police Service downtown headquarters, where police said he failed a preliminary drug test.
Police said there were no injuries sustained in the incident.
Both the vehicle and the utility pole, however, sustained significant damages, police added.
Windsor police have charged the suspect with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by a drug and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
